So we have a grape at this point. This was a picture of my 9 week ultrasound. It’s hard to see but the baby is head down. You can even see the little feet and arms (which are just long enough to meet over his heart). The story:
I always want to know if people were trying to get pregnant so to answer that, yes we were but just barely. We had decided to start trying probably the day I got pregnant. It sounds so naive now but since it took us about 4 months to get pregnant with Kendyl I just assumed it would take a little bit for this one to work. Nope! I took the test Jan. 25th. The only reason I thought I might be pregnant was some zits that were a little early compared to when I usually get them at that lovely time of the month. But I just wanted to know and happened to have a test already at the house so I thought what the heck. I was only about 3 1/2 weeks then so the little plus sign didn’t appear right away. I just figured oh well but I better let it sit for the 2 minutes like the directions say. I went and did something with Kendyl and then came back. Well there it was. My reaction, not my classiest moment but to G rate it- “O Crap.” I was shocked, in a good and surprised way but just really shocked. I called Barry to see if K and I could meet him for lunch because I couldn’t wait all day until he got home to tell him and I wasn’t going to tell him over the phone. He couldn’t do lunch so we went later to grab a coffee together. When we got off the elevator I said somthing about your family of 4. He looked down at my belly and said, “Are you serious”?
So my due date is Oct. 6 and we aren’t going to find out the gender. Barry wants to and I don’t but since we found out with Kendyl we aren’t with this one, ya know, gotta keep things fair.
Kendyl will be exactly 2 1/2 when this one is born.
I’ve been feeling pretty great just like last time but some days I do just feel exhausted. Like I just ran a marathon exhausted. That is chalked up to chasing an almost 2 year old around and on days I work chasing another 2 1/2 year old around.
Here is the video. You can hear the tech saying some tidbits about the heart rate, although we didn’t get to hear it. They don’t listen to the heart beat until 12 weeks, so next appointment.
In case you couldn’t hear what she was saying the heart rate was 176 which is perfect. We could see it then but not sure if you can tell but we could see the heart beating and little feet moving. She also said based on everything so far I have a less than 5% chance of miscarriage. I thought that was cool. She also said you have a 0% chance of miscarriage the day they put the baby in your arms…
So I guess those are all the details at this point.

all four pregnancies of mine were a surprise- with a bit of the ‘oh no’ or ‘this can’t be!’
so glad that you are feeling well – this time around you will be even more aware of each stage, b/c you know what to look for and aware of how you feel!
Enjoy these months – they go by so quickly!
Baby years are fun. (well, not all of the time….)
Aunt Esther
Love it! What a great idea to videotape this.
Can’t wait to meet K2 (as I shall be calling him/her).
Hooray! Congratulations guys. We’re so happy for you! And way to go on not finding out the gender! It’s fun to have that surprise in the delivery room. (We did that with both of our kids) Kendyl will be a great big sister! And 2-1/2 years apart is perfect.
What a blessing this little one is!
Hip hip hooray for grandchild #6! What a blessing that baby #2 is off to a great start and you are feeling good. Looking forward to meeting him or her this fall…
